The River Sprite

I fell in love with a boy. He captured my heart and held it tight in his clasped hand, just as he held me. The boy loved me and was good to me, took care of me, looked after me and cared for me, he was my love and I his. But I was a river and could not be held. He was a man and could not let go of me, for he loved me, without shame, without boundaries yet with hope.
